Why is it so important?
Competition law focuses on ensuring market efficiency and competition to allow for consumer protection, fair pricing, and the emergence of new companies. The field is particularly important today as many experts blame weak market competition for rising prices.

What do lawyers involved in competition law do?
Competition law lawyers fulfill many roles. Often, they utilize their knowledge of anti-trust laws to advise businesses on the legality of their actions such as mergers and acquisitions. Further, lawyers at the Competition Bureau can bring cases against companies who violate the Competition Act.
